Workshop objectives

During the course of the FAIRsFAIR project we have been working on defining a common metadata description for Semantic Artefacts (SA) to make them FAIR. This work was initiated with a few members of the RDA VSSIG TG on metadata led by C. Jonquet and we have converged on a DCAT extension for representing SA and a short list of metadata fields to describe SAs. Our goal is to propose a common minimum metadata description for FAIR SAs, setting up a threshold on FAIRness without restricting the usage of more metadata elements for a richer metadata description as required by the FAIR Principles.

The purpose of this workshop is to present our initial DCAT extension to SA experts and to determine a minimum set of key metadata elements to make SA FAIR. For this, we will present a dedicated use-case that should support the choice of the metadata elements. We are inviting ontologists, knowledge engineers and semantic repository owners/developers to join us and help us to define this key element of the FAIR Semantics recommendations.
